Today, the city of Newport is home to a number of historic buildings, including the Newport City Hall, which was built circa 1913.

The Pend Oreille River:

The Pend Oreille River is a tributary of the Columbia River, approximately 130 miles (209 km) long, flowing through northern Idaho and northeastern Washington in the United States, as well as southeastern British Columbia in Canada. The river is known for its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities, including fishing, boating, and kayaking.

The river is home to a variety of fish species, including rainbow trout, westslope cutthroat trout, bull trout, kokanee, and northern pike. The river also supports a diverse array of wildlife, including bald eagles, ospreys, and great blue herons.

The Pend Oreille River has played an important role in the history of the region, serving as a transportation route for early settlers and a source of power for sawmills and other industries. Today, the river continues to be an important resource for the communities along its banks.
